APCHA Implementing New Categories & Income Caps!

APCHA Implementing New Categories & Income Caps!

Approved by the APCHA Board, and supported by Aspen City Council and the Pitkin County Commissioners, APCHA is moving forward with a change in the qualifying income categories. This change includes aligning qualifications between sales and rental processes and using Area Median Income (AMI) to set the income maximums.

In the past, Sales qualifications had measured households by number of dependents in the household and had 7 categories, plus RO. Rental qualifications measured by number of adults in the household and only had 4 categories, plus RO. Additionally, the figures used for the maximums in each category are outdated and no longer support the program. Some households in both the APCHA sales and rental programs may see an adjustment to their current categories based on these changes. The changes go into effect on Monday, May 14, 2018, and are as follows:

  • Maximum Incomes for each Category will be set using AMI
  • Both Sales and Rental households will be measured by number of persons in the household
  • Both Sales and Rental Categories will be 1-5, plus RO
